White lipped snake
(Drysdalia coronoides).


Small secretive snake and often nocturnal. Common, frequently inhabits gardens although often undetected. Mildly venomous, no threat to humans or domestic pets.



Lowland Copperhead
(Austelaps superbus).
Highly venomous with predominently neurotoxic vemom. Envenomation life threatening to humans. However a very docile species and reluctant to bite. Often active at low temperatures compared with other large Victorian Elapid species. Crepuscular in hot weather.
Tiger Snake or polyvalent antivenin effective for bites.
Common in suitable habitat.
